Tag the Bird News

Guess what! TTB1.0 finally got approved by the Mozilla staff and is available right here: Tag the Bird 1.0 - Tagging in Thunderbird.
Don't forget to uninstall RC1 manually, if you got that installed.

Enrico Stahn joined the TTB Team and will implement two features he proposed:
  • tagging of multiple messages
  • filter based autotagging
Olivier Marcé was so kind to send me a French translation for TTB. It will be part of v1.1. Thank you!

Talking about v1.1: I hope very much that this version will be the first to feature IMAP support. I think I will be able to release it until the end of July. Stay tuned!

Any news on v1.1?

Hi guys,

I'm really waiting for the IMAP support, any news on v1.1? Thanks for the hard work, this addon is really appriciated.

Paul Alexandrow - 28. Aug, 09:04

there's currently a release candidate for 1.1 out for testing, but it still got some bugs, so i ask you for a little more patience.

Release date for 1.1?

Hello team,

I'm holding my breath for 1.1 and IMAP support. :-) Any news on the release date?

Paul Alexandrow - 11. Oct, 19:28

because the tagthebird 'team' in truth is 'me' at the moment and there are so so many things to do for me right now at work, i'm very sorry to put you off for at least another couple of weeks. sorry!

1.1

I have a top secret copy of 1.1 (I'm special. Hah!) and I have sad news to report. While it no longer totally destroys all my headers, the tags don't show up in the taglist.

I have two Ubuntu Thunderbird installations at my disposal and on my laptop, I'd been running Header Tools (which aren't nearly as usable as TTB) which allowed me to delete the tags that were breaking my headers, but even after I removed Header Tools, I found that tags, once added still don't show up in the message (still says "no tags found"). I figured the problem was maybe some cruft left by Header Tools but I finally upgraded my desktop at work to Breezy and implemented TTB there and I have the same problem.

I immensely appreciate the work Paul has done on this. I don't have my top secret release because I am his best friend, he was just incredibly nice when I articulated the problem I was having with 1.0.

I wonder when Thunderbird2.0 is expected? If tagging is built in, maybe I should stop hounding Paul!

Thanks for everything.

no please, keep hounding me. i won't get my ass to sit down and fix this stupid bug otherwise. still got tons of other things to do though, but maybe i'll find some time for a little xmas present to you unix users out there (ok you heard that already, but hope dies last).

TTB deprecated?

Hi all!

I'm sorry for my absence the last months. I got a new job and had to move from Germany to Sydney/Australia.

However, TB 2.0 seems to implement tagging as well as TTB does, doesn't it?

Enrico

That's what I heard though I didn't take a look at TB2 yet. But you're right, at my current level of information I do not plan to get TTB working with TB2. Bugs in the 1.5 version should be fixed nevertheless. And who knows, maybe there's something to improve in TB2's Tagging functions as well.
